Eelink Notifications/Alarms

Hi,

Just wondering if there is any support for the SOS, or other type alarms for the Eelink protocol? Does the app phrase the alarms from the packets and push them through the interface as notifications? Or do I need to set them up manually?

Great work on the app, very impressed with the front end!

Edit: So it seems battery disconnect alarm works, however it just says “XXX sent an alarm” but there are no specifics of what type of alarm? Also noted SOS does not work on TK419?

You can enable the available types of notifications in the unit menu - Settings - Notifications.
Alarm notifications only work on SOS notifications. If your tracker additionally sends an alarm notification about an open door, for example, the notification will not be sent in the application in this case.
Low battery notifications are currently triggered on the battery.level parameter when the tracker sends the tracker’s battery level as a percentage.

Are you going to launch other types of alarms in the next versions of the application? Eg tampering, accident, jamming etc. or the possibility of self-definition of an alarm based on AVL data. eg for the Queclink protocol I have parameter light.alarm.status: false - it would be nice if I could define a custom alarm in case this (or other similar) parameter changes to true.

I have a similar question. Many of the “alarms” you can set in the native eelink app do not trigger notifications in ruhavik. They show up as “events” not alarms. So basically if you put a gps tracker in your bike and want to get an alarm notification of a vibration event, you’ll never get an alarm notification from ruhavik when the bike is tampered with but if you look at the “last message” data you can see the vibration event (shows up as movement event #4 for small jolt or crash event for large jolt). In this example, only low battery triggers an alarm:

Is there no option in the free app to get notified? Would you have to set up custom notifications in the premium app? I suppose another option would be to use flespi to post process the data to send an alarm event.

Notifications based on custom parameters are available only with the Premium subscription.

As for Flespi, yes, we fully use this backend and know all its advantages. The fact is that many functions cannot be quickly implemented on our part for various reasons.

Thanks, pretty sure I’ll eventually pony up for the premium version but for now I decided to use flespi to map the vibration movement alarm to a towing event, for which I can enable notifications, and set alarm.event for other events that ruhavik doesn’t consider alarms (despite being set as alarms in setbox).

I see the benefit of “own” notifications to be you can optionally choose which alarms you want unique and distinct notifications for or handling of. The problem is you are arbitrarily castrating alarm notification functionality for some trackers but not others in how you decide what events are alarms and what events are not alarms, which may differ from manufacturer “a” to manufacturer “b” for the same event! I think what you should consider doing in the free version is treating all events as alarms unless there is a separate notification option for them. Users can use setbox to disable alarms they don’t want to get alarm events for, rather than luck of the draw. Premium users would still benefit from the ability to have unique handling of specific events.

Let me expand on that. I am using an eelink tk419 tracker in an e-bike. I think it’s the best tracker available for this purpose due to its small size, ability to hard wire to ebike battery, and tracking performance while secured inside the frame. The only real issue is that push notifications don’t work in eelink’s native app, so I would recommend ruhavik to those who find that important. That said, if ruhavik doesn’t trigger alarm push notifications for vibration movement (unless you pay) it’s not so compelling. Ultimately to get users to pay for a service it’s important to get their foot in the door first, but to not get alarm notification for all alarms enabled in setbox, why else would you enable them in setbox if you didn’t want an alarm? For monitoring a bike, vibration movement alarms can be as important as geofences.

We don’t cut the functionality on purpose, we try to make the functionality universal. Therefore, we have made notifications about an alarm message by alarm.event or vibration.alarm parameters. Also, regarding Flespi’s, all these parameters are standardized and it was decided that these parameters are enough to try alarm notifications.

Yes, we understand that it would be very cool for users if we expanded the free functionality of the application and added a large number of notifications to it and so on.
However, in our opinion, the free functionality of the application is already redundant and adding rather complex operations with additional parameters for which we will trigger a notification will be superfluous and will not be in demand.

However, the functionality of such notifications is available in the Premium subscription. Notification by any parameter is available and costs as much as one cup of coffee. One cup of coffee a month, we think, is more than enough to keep your bike safe.

I hope you understand our comment correctly.
In any case, we will discuss with the developers the possibility of adding additional options for alarm notification to the free version, but we cannot make any promises.
