YES, YES, YES! The EV-07B maybe confusingly to English speakers with its lower letter than its predecessors P, S, W, etc., has AT LEAST ten times the numbers of parameters and setting options of the predecessors and so over ten times the amount of data it could send back and forth over GPRS so there was a need to economize on data transmission very easily achieved by using efficient use of the integer number space by encoding multiple parameters into a 32-bit integer or a 4-byte full-word
The answer to my question and an end to my incessant complaining here could be at the fingertips of your colleagues at Wialon who have all those registered EV-07B and ten or more online at any time. Are all those registered and connected trackers unable to show on the map their battery strength and cell strength at their current and predecessor locations? Haven’t anyone complained that this is the first time they’re using a for-pay tracking service unable to provide that info over a long period of time, and not ever available ever since the device was accepted registered and connected and reporting.
Predecessor units to the EV-07B could afford to be wasteful of GPRS transmission data packet size because very few parameters were being transmitted. They might have wasted an entire 32-bit integer or even an entire alphanumeric byte (0-255) there wasting more than half the data sending just 0-100 battery strength,in a full 8-bit byte when certainly four and maybe six or even more small-integer parameters could all be “packed” into that 32-bit word of four 8-bit bytes.
smart-locator.com and Shenzhen know how to unpack the GPRS data so battery and cell strength are shown constantly. What about Wialon? All they need do is call Eview to find out. GPSWOX knows how to do it. Minifinder with its subscription service would make the call and find out and add the data to the mapped device’s locations.

But what about Wialon? If Wialon has over twenty of the EV-07B registered and often ten simultaneously connected to their network, are those users unable to access any indication of battery or celll strength and are they all unable to see those parameters on the tracker position map and unable to know anything unless the users periodically inquires of the unit status by SMS command and get info by SMS text reply, which is quite inconvenient if they want to look in just one place (the map) and see everything they need to know.
They could maybe print out the map of the travel paths and then pencil in the battery strength and cell strength info they obtained by SMS at various locations. Sounds like a big royal pain.
Thank You, ashe, for taking the time and realizing that i could be correct in my supposition, that multiple parameters cab be encoded into one 32-bit integer (or as four 8-bit alphanumeric characters. Maybe people have no idea why this would make sense, but one very solid reason would be to minimize data usage for the device o its GPRS transmissions.
If Eview’s predecessor units based on the old EV-07P/S/W were transmitting battery strength, etc. all as ten+ 32-bit integers or equivalent, the EV-07B (whose lower letter mistakenly suggests it’s a more primitive device), the new EV-07B and its variants have over ten times the parameters which can be modified by the user either through SMS commands or via GPRS through smart-locator.com or a commercial tracking service like GPSWox which promises full support. for all Shenzhen Eview trackers. Eview iss efficient in its use of data. My latest “3G” EV-07W from 2018 and the “4G” EV-07B use approximately the same amount of data transmission, yet the newer one has over then times the feature set and report options of the older models.
These new GPS pendants like EV-07B with two-way voice communication and auto-calling for breaching geo-fences or falls or other alarms are not cheaply-made little gadgets selling for a pittance but they sell for as much $500 US initially for setup by third-party service and then a contracted monthly service fee at least $20 per month for monitored 24/7 Medic-Alert services.
I’ve tried the tracking service offered by Shenzhen Eview at smart-locator website and smartphone app. Maybe eventually they’ll get the bugs worked out but this device was only registered with US FCC exactly year ago and at first it was ridiculous trying the website because the app came first and then it all had to be ported to HTML and its scripts. But if they ever get it working they’ll allow for all phone settings and functionality to be fully controlled and password protected, Caller-ID protected, etc. etc. with no need for sending any setup commands by SMS. But that might be never.
So right now that has me here because its free and has many shortcomings, but it’s FREE, and best of all the Geofence here is tremendously better than smart-locator.com’s Geofence because smart-locator’s Eview Geoofence right now is circular only, no rectangular borders, say crossing a major street, allowed, Just approximate distance from home wherever that is. Kind of dumb for living in a city laid out with all the major streets in N-S/E-W rectangular grid, I want to know if my cat crosses a nearby major street no mattter the time of night the EV-07B can call me and send a SMS with lat-long link and if i answer the call i’m in 2-way voice call with my cat and hopefully in addition to the nearby sounds like cars on the road i’ll hear my cat’s replies to me when i tell him he needs to come home Now and be Careful because i’m going out to get you if you don’t cross back home.
I just love my GPS. Please if smart-locator can decode the data and show battery strength and cell strength so could you, no user action need be even suggested as the solution. User and user option has nothing at all to do with this problem.
Besides MAYBE Wialon offering full support for the EV-07B, but they don’t want to sell me an account just for me and my cats, there’s UK’s GPSWox subscription service and Sweden’s Minifinder subscription service who i could ask if they could provide what’s needed.
In sum. What about Wialon? Do they report batttery strength and cell strength for EV-07B? If not, why not?
