Dear users,
We want to inform you about an issue that has recently appeared with some GPS devices based on specific chipsets (in particular, MTK2503D/MT3333). Due to a GPS Week Rollover bug, these devices may send messages with incorrect timestamps that jump back to 2006.
Affected brands/models: e.g., Concox/WeTrack, Bitrek, SinoTrack, Coban, Xeeletech, Micodus and etc.
This problem originates from the device side and in most cases it is really hard to fix even with a firmware update. However, our team is preparing a fix on the GPS-Trace platform: we will apply an automatic correction to incoming messages and replace the invalid timestamps with the proper current dates.
We expect to release this fix by the end of today. After that, the affected devices will display correct timestamps again without requiring any changes on your side.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
P.S. If you encounter this problem and your manufacturer is not listed above, write to us at support@gps-trace.com with your device ID. We will check and if the problem is identical, we will also apply the fix to your devices.
