Hi palmpje5 !
I understand your frustration with the situation regarding your TK 905 tracker and Libara SIM card.
What happened is a common issue with prepaid SIM cards used in GPS trackers. Many mobile providers require regular activity (calls, SMS, data usage) or periodic responses to their messages to keep the SIM active. Since the SIM was in your tracker, you couldn’t respond to their verification message, which led to the deactivation of your number despite having €30 credit.
For GPS trackers, it’s generally recommended to:
- Use SIM cards specifically designed for IoT/M2M devices that don’t require regular human interaction
- Check with the provider about their inactivity policies before purchasing
- Regularly monitor the SIM status if possible
- Some providers automatically deactivate SIMs after a certain period of inactivity, which is problematic for devices like GPS trackers that may only use data services and can’t respond to SMS verification requests.
If you need to get your tracker working again, I’d recommend purchasing a SIM card that’s better suited for GPS tracking devices.
