  • Latest Firmware version of Wondex VT-10

Good morning everyone,
I have been using a Wondex VT-10 GPS tracker since 2010 and am generally very happy with the device. However, I have a quiescent current consumption of approx. 20mA and would be happy if this could be reduced. In addition, the device sends position reports with the wrong date (there was already a post about this here - https://forum.gps-trace.com/d/27-vt-10-wonde-proud-please-allow-this-device-for-server-old-date/9). Hence my question: Can someone please support me with a current firmware version? The firmware on my device is 1.025. Many thanks in advance.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Wondex VT-10 GPS tracker. To address your concerns:

    • A quiescent current consumption of approximately 20mA is typical for many GPS trackers. Consider optimizing power-saving settings and checking for firmware updates to potentially reduce this.

    • Incorrect Date in Position Reports: Ensure that the correct timezone (0 UTC) is set on your tracker, as this is necessary for accurate reporting on GPS-Trace.

    • Firmware Update: for personalized support and firmware updates, we recommend contacting Wondex’s customer support directly.

    Good evening Kuta,

Firstly, thank you very much for your feedback. Regarding the incorrect time stamp on the position reports, I can say that unfortunately only the year is incorrect. However, the optimisation of the quiescent current consumption is much more important to me. I saw a few weeks ago that the Wondeproud website appears to have been taken over by another operator. I have nevertheless tried to contact Wondeproud somehow, but have not yet received a reply. In my last post I linked to another post where someone helped out with a newer firmware and I hope to make some progress this way.

If Wondeproud is unresponsive, trying alternative firmware, as mentioned in your linked post, seems like a good approach. Hope it helps! Let us know if you need further assistance.

The files in the linked post are no longer available :-(.

Thanks Kuta. I’ve sent an E-Mail as you suggested.

So, I was lucky enough to be able to buy another second-hand VT-10 at auction and have carried out some tests here. The command $WP+PSM=0000,3,60,1,0 activated power saving mode 3, which I had read about during my research. After 60 seconds, the quiescent current consumption dropped to approx 5mA. This behaviour was then also seen on my VT-10 with firmware version 1.025. I will now continue to test how the device behaves with position queries via SMS, etc. Many thanks again for your support.

Great to hear about your success with the VT-10 tracker’s power saving mode! It’s excellent that you were able to get the power consumption down to approximately 5mA

If you discover any interesting behavior during your SMS position query tests, please feel free to share your findings. This kind of practical experience is valuable information.
