It's for my disabled brother, hence he needs to wear it permamently on his belt. It would be a plus if it has a long battery life.

the simplest way is to use the smartphone as a tracker with our GPS Tag application, but if you decided to buy a tracker i'd recommend you to find one by the reliable manufacturer if it is possible, as chinese copies are not stable and have a low battery a sa rule

GL200, GL300 or Xexun XT107?

(They can be used with cheap pre-paid sim-cards and GPRS costs 0.08$ a day)

 

Would a smartphone also work with GPRS data? What about acculife?

Which way (tracker or smartphone) produces more data? He shouldn't be able to interact with the smartphone screen.
