I'm struggling to connect my device for 2 reasons -

1 There is no TK-Star or TK816 option.

2 I'm not sure if I should be adding any zeros to the 10 digit number.

Any help appreciated.

Also, when I input the phone number it won't allow me to 'OK' it plus there are 2 fields for the phone number - should the first be 0044 for the UK (which I'm in) and eg 752****489 as the remaining part?

I've tried different combinations but without success.

stephenc, read here about the phone number.

I'd suggest to buy genuine devices only if you do want to avoid problems.

Otherwise google configuration, contact the seller or the manufacturer and ask them on how to configure your device.

Just in case you want to check with the TK-Star settings:

http://gps-trace.com...eelectech LK109

And if you are not sure about the IMEI (ID) use id.wialon.net to find out what is the actual ID.

pach, I've tried to do this but it's replying with 'Pls set it by admin phone number' - do I have to register my number with the website first?

stephenc, no. Device configuration has nothing to do with our site.

The device itself asks you to send a special command to acknowledge your phone number as an admin number.

You need to find a relevant command for that.

OK, just to take you through the steps I've taken so far.

1 I've registered with http://orange.gps-trace.com but the device is showing 'Offline'

2 I've added the device under different names including OBD2

3 I've tried to send it various commands including - adminip 123456 193.193.165.166 5093 to which it replies adminip ok

4 Then I've sent APN123456 giffgaff.com & got an ok

5 Then apnuser123456 giffgaff which was also confirmed.

But ............ I still am being told I'm offline and can't connect.

To make matters worse, I now cannot connect to the original server http://mytkstar.net/ because I don't know the default IP address or port number.

Oops!

stephenc, we do not have port "5093".

May be it is for the mytkstar not gps-trace...

Try:

adminip123456 193.193.165.167 21062
APN123456 giffgaff.com
apnuser123456 giffgaff

Open id.wialon.net and check if it appears in the list.

Unfortunately it is still appearing offline although it responded with confirmation to each of the 3 above commands.

I also went onto wialon but the TK816 OBD 2 or TK Star is not listed so I'm not sure how to confirm it.

The one I purchased is shown here on Ebay

Even though I have notifications ticked pach, I'm not receiving them when you reply :(

stephenc, if it connects to the id.wialon.net it should be displayed as "Xeelectech LK109".

If it does not appear then it most likely not supported.

I emailed id.wialon.net and they asked me to connect to their test server which I did. They then came back to say I should setup the device as a ES-GP06 which I've done but still I cannot connect to https://svcs.gps-trace.com/

I then started it from scratch using the following commands, each of which were OK'd by return (except the last one) -

begin123456

grps123456

admin123456 +44796*******

adminip123456 193.193.165.166 21053 - at this stage I got an 'Invalid Command'

I'm going around in circles here - where am I going wrong please?

I continue to struggle with this technology and have decided to post specific questions one at a time in the hope of understanding it, so my first question is -

What is the order of operations / commands to connect to GPS TRACE at https://svcs.gps-trace.com/

With my limited knowledge, this is the list I've made for my own device -

  • begin123456
  • grps123456
  • admin123456 +4407......... (this is my tel number in the international format)
  • adminip123456 193.193.165.166 21053
  • apn123456 giffgaff.com
  • apnuser123456 giffgaff

Does this sound like the right order?

Does it matter if the commands are in upper or lower case?

Is there anything else which should be added?

stephenc, if we are talking about ES-GP06 the commands are different actually.

Check current settings first:

pw,123456,ts#

Then change apn an server IP if needed:

pw,123456,center,your_phone_number#
pw,123456,ip,193.193.165.166,21053#
pw,123456,apn,apn_name,login,password#
pw,123456,ip,193.193.165.166,21053#

Reboot and a factory reset commands, just in case:

pw,123456,reset#
pw,123456,factory#

It now appears that I was inputting admin123456 193.193.165.166 21053 instead of adminip123456 193.193.165.166 21053 which was causing the error.

I have left it on the ES-GP06 and it is now online and displaying on the map - success and thanks to pach and Wialon assistance for sticking with it and resolving the problem.

stephenc, so the commands are:

begin123456
grps123456
admin123456 phone_number_in_the_international_format
adminip123456 193.193.165.166 21053
apn123456 your_apn
apnuser123456 apn_username

But the device is working under the ES-GP06 protocol?

Yes - it is now working under the ES-GP06 protocol.

Assuming the commands you refer to above should be in the order which you have written them, then as a matter of interest, is this the case ONLY with GPS-Trace that the commands need to be in that order or is it the same with all servers? For example, Traccar?

stephenc, commands have nothing to do with any monitoring site.

Commands are only for devices independently of any third party software.
