With gps-trace 2.0, is the "single URL google maps" option gone?

  (http://orange.gps-tr...dex.html?xxxxxx etc)

Cheers

if you just mean the "i'm here option" it will be developped on the new trace. As fot the old one it wasn't secure, that's why we decided to eliminate it.

at least you had the option to use another account for the forums and the tracking service. Now, it's the same.

This way I have to supply my login credentials to anyone if they want to know my whereabouts. Or I have to mail them every five days with a new location link. That just doesn't work.

Like I said, add a shared secret/key to the location link. That way you need the username AND the shared secret. This fixes the security issue you have with the "Where am I" link.

Agree,

If I would be able to create a link with a random code/number in it, nobody would be able to guess the URL.

Just like a Youtube "unlisted" video. It does not appear anywhere but if you have the link, you can see it.

To me, that would be enough security.

Optional: a link with a passcode (if you think the url is not safe enough)

Optional: a link that expires with or without a passcode.

Cheers

PS. Maybe this discussion should be under the "New features proposal"?

the location option is running with the secret URL parameter now. Recreate old ones and use it.

Great!

So this link, doesn't change unless you (re)create a new one?

One issue, this link jumps out of an iframe ..  :(
