Set location determination only by GPS data and try using timeout option.

Read more in the manual (paragraph 2.1.1).

If I set timeout, GPS Tag will stop to send my position to server... and it will be unuseful.

I set message every 90sec... but battery drain persist.

No idea?

I note high battery drain even if I set GPS location period every 120sec...

May I suggest to activate and deactivate GPS function on the phone only when "GPS tag" needs to set position?

In this case GPS chip doesn't drain battery when unused from "GPS tag".

What is your thought?

There are some restrictions in control over an OS.
For example in Android such action is not allowed due to security issues and GPS can not be turned on\off automatically.

So, no other idea?

I see Orange GPS Tag using more 50% of CPU time... and battery drain very very fast!

I see the same issue here, Continuous Mode is always on and will supply the GPS chip all the time, this is only usefull when you have access to a charger all the time.

When using the timeout option you are losing GPS fixes when the TAG is moving like in the car, bus, train, bike or something else

for each bloody china tracking device a shock sensing operation mode is implemented to send the tracker to sleep or working mode which supplies the GPS unit just in case when the unit is moving. Nobody needs couple of thousand GPS fixes of a stationary position, I guess this is common sense?

To implement a shock sensing mode to the GPS Tag should be possible, the supported hardware (3D Motion sensor) shoud be available in all Android supported smartphones.

To switch the GPS unit on and off should also be possible, or why is it working for all other apps on my phone which are requesting my GPS positon??

Once an option have been activated it will log each interval from start to stop.

You can send a log for a shorter or a longer period it is up to you.

Hello!

Which "option" do you mean?

How to set the logging for a shorter periode?

I have the Tag also on a second phone running (Motorola Defy+), only with accessible memory to SD card, I didn't found this folder "sdcard/Android/data/com.gurtam.gps_trace_orange/debug/"    in    /sdcard/Android/data/

whereas on the S5 mini the folder is existent but empty!!!

The image Packet size is set to 50.000B. Is the size of the log determined by this value?

Thanks!

"Image packet size" corresponds to sending images(pictures\photos).

A log will be saving data for as long as the app will be working.

As I have already mentioned from start till stop of the service.

If you can not allocate folder with logs you can send it using button "Send log files" (2.8.1. Send log files).

never the less, are there future activities to enhance the app with a shock sensing mode? without this feature the GPS Tag will be more or less limited in use....

regards

Tom

2.4.2. Filtration of messages

This filter does only apply to the transmitted data from the TAG to the Server and does not apply to the GPS chip which is working all the time which results in high current consumption and fast depletion of the battery!

When I set the opition "Flitration of messages" and set "Min Time" to 600 sec the TAG will send data to the sever everey 600 seconds, never the less the GPS chip stays turned on and will not shut down till the service get stoped manualy or "Operation Mode" set to "Timeout".

I can not imagine that someone desires an app for a mobile device which leaves GPS running all the time.

is there any future activity to fix this, as mentioned before, this operation mode (GPS always on) is only practical when using a charger all the time!
